Movies

This movie, Lover's Grief Over the Yellow River, is one of my favorite movies we have ever watched in class. It was also one of the first, and was a great introduction to Chinese movie culture. The narrator for most of the story is American and I think it was that veiwpoint that helped me understand the film better as my first Chinese movie. Its ending was very confusing and vauge to me and my class mates, but I have discovered that this is how most Chinese movies are.

The Year of The Yao is another of my favorite Chinese movies. It highlights many of the difficulties people experience when placed in a new culture, along with showing many nuances in translation between Chinese and English.

In Gua Sha The Treatment I learned about the serious concequences of intercultural misunderstandings.
